Facing frustrating lag in your Mortal Kombat battles? The recently released Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection promised a nostalgic trip, but it arrived with a few unexpected glitches. Fortunately, the developers are swiftly responding to player feedback!
This collection, which launched at the end of last month, has already received a new update to address some of the issues. Digital Eclipse has released a patch specifically for the PlayStation 5 and 4 versions, aiming to tackle some of the problems that players have been experiencing.
One of the primary focuses of this update is to further reduce input lag on PlayStation systems. This is not the first time they have addressed this issue; a previous patch was released to improve the situation.
At launch, the PlayStation 5 version of the game suffered from a significant 101 ms of input latency, which translates to 6.3 frames of lag. This was considerably higher than the Xbox Series X, which measured around 44 ms or 2.75 frames of delay. This difference created an uneven playing field for players on different platforms.
The prior update did improve the PlayStation version, bringing the input lag down to 83.42 ms or 5.21 frames. However, this was still higher than other systems, including the Nintendo Switch. We will need to wait for new tests to see how the latest update has further improved the input lag on the PS5 and PS4.
But here's where it gets controversial... The update also includes fixes for online match desync issues and other bugs that have been discovered in the game.
Digital Eclipse also previously released an update for the Steam version of the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, which addressed other problems.
Here are the full patch notes for the latest PlayStation update:
- Additional improvements to input lag.
- Fixed desync issues that resulted from certain offline options impacting online matches.
- Addressed scenarios where usernames would swap sides on the match result screen.
- Miscellaneous bug fixes.
